SEAF Portfolio Company Matras wins Poland “Best of” award in Bookstore Chain category

SEAF Portfolio Company Matras S.A., a regional bookstore chain held by the SEAF North Fund, was recently given the Dobra Marka 2013 in the “Bookstore Chain” category. This title is granted to the most trusted and known Polish Brands, signifying the importance of Matras to the Polish consumer. The winner was determined based on a consumer survey conducted in the 1st quarter of 2013 by Biznes Trendy, Rzeczpospolita daily and Forum Biznesu, & Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Polish-based business and media outlets.

Over the years Matras has made a concentrated effort to improve its business operations and the services it provides its customers. The bookstore chain caters to its customers’ needs by providing a selection of books from various genres spanning from New Bestsellers to Classics. Matras also regularly hosts “meet and greet” salons throughout Poland giving Matras’ customers the opportunity to interact with their favorite authors. Operational Director Mariusz Rutowicz believes that the recent accolade “is proof that Matras’ intense effort of building a brand, its values, and [book] selection offered translated into great results.”
While Matras has faced price competition in recent times, Mariusz made customer service a focus of the company. “My rule is very simple:” states Mariusz, “to the customer you must say hello! The retail is the detail. And such a detail can bring success at the end.”
