Fahim Ahmed, Chief of Party of SEAF Bangladesh AgriVentures, is an investment professional with over 13 years of experience in providing financing and advisory support to growth stage companies in both emerging and developed markets. At SEAF, Mr. Ahmed led the formation of SEAF Bangladesh AgriVentures, an agribusiness investment vehicle in Bangladesh, and presently oversees its in-country operations. Prior thereto, he designed, developed and managed SEAF Bangladesh Ventures, the first international SME investment fund in Bangladesh. Since joining SEAF in late 2009, Mr. Ahmed has made over 12 investments in Bangladesh, and has completed successful exits.
Prior to joining SEAF, Mr. Ahmed was a Vice President in the New York office of Royal Bank Equity Finance, the private equity investment affiliate of Royal Bank of Scotland, where he led the evaluation of equity and mezzanine investment opportunities in North America. Mr. Ahmed also served as an investment professional at American Securities, a leading middle-market private equity firm based in New York with USD 3 billion in committed capital. At American Securities, he evaluated and executed several investments and exits in the agribusiness, power & energy, and healthcare sectors. He began his career in finance as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he advised private equity and strategic clients on acquisitions, divestitures and financings in the tech, media and telecom sectors.
Mr. Ahmed graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College in Vermont, USA, with a B.A. in economics, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is fluent in Bangla and English, and conversational in Hindi and Urdu.
